If you could change 1 thing about Life Connection Church, big or small, right now, what would it be?

This is a question sent in by Kyle (ourrisingsound.com) on the “Ask Aaron Anything” link:

If you could change 1 thing about Life Connection Church, big or small, right now, what would it be?

My Answer:

The “right now” part of the question throws me off because I feel rushed.  Like you are a used car salesmen and asking something like, “Would you drive off right now if I gave you this price?”.  LOL.  I think the biggest thing I would change would be what I will call the roller coaster ride.  I hate roller coasters and I am sure that is why God has me on one right now.  In many areas we are still very young as a church and our emotions determine what we do or how we respond.  We do have a  handful of people who have a depth of spiritual maturity but we have a chunk of people from leadership down who still do not have much knowledge but pure zeal.  I am glad we have a lot of zeal and passion and when we are up we are flying but we can crash pretty hard.

Romans 10:2 - For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.

Proverbs 19:2 -  It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.

I think if we could change something or grow in an area it would be that we add knowledge to our zeal and that we would have leaders and members who are on an upward climb and not a crazy roller coster.   I love zeal and passion!  I do not like it when people have a bunch of knowledge and no zeal but we do need to see a bunch of our zealous people add knowledge and become a stabilizing mature factor in this house. That may or may not make sense but I want you to know that I love my church and the people in it and I thank God for all that we have. However in order for us to advance we are going to need to add to our zeal, knowledge and maturity.  If we are going to add more spiritual children we are going to need to get or raise up more spiritual men and women.

I love this Church! It’s so full of cool, vibrant people! And, I want to get to know them better! The Word says we should encourage one another and share each other’s burdens but that’s hard to do when we don’t REALLY know each other. I know our Connections groups are great for that, but sometimes I do feel a bit confined to just my connection group. So, what if we had more LCC outings? Like an LCC skate night…or an LCC morning hike…something like that? Before I got connected to my group, they would have a game night from time to time and invite me. And, to be honest, at that time in my life, I was more receptive to game night than I was a ‘bible study’ night. Maybe these outings would be not just an open door to encourage LCC’s unity, but also for those that don’t know Jesus to see just how cool the people here really are. I was just wondering if anyone else thought along those same lines…..

ha, you know one thing I would’ve LOVED to do again/more was go out and try to evangelize when i got the opportunity to do that with the interns in november. It was such an adrenaline rush….it could be a cool way to “inter connection group” too as the above gentleman or lady mentioned.
