I am going to start asking you all some questions and I am going to call them “what-cha-think?”
“The great mistake made by most of the Lord’s people is in hoping to discover in themselves that which is to be found in Christ alone.”
- Arthur Walkington (A.W.) Pink

This quote really stabbed me in the heart. I was stuck on it for a few minutes as I was reminded of my own foolish self-reliance. I get a lot of questions from you all and I love it but I thought I would randomly ask you all questions and see how you respond… What-cha-think about this quote?
This, is hard. I just felt my face slapped after reading it. As I see it, we foolishly (or pridefully) rely on ourselves too much. Just because we’re capable of doing something by our own strength w/o even consulting/asking God first, doesn’t mean that we can just do it. A lot of times (& I’m also guilty of this), that when a situation comes up, we “measure” it first if it’s w/in our capabilities. If it is, we either go straight for it/just ask God for help while we’re already in the middle/start taking action. If we find out that it’s beyond our human capabilities, then that’s the time we call to God. We often (if not always) forget to ask God first, even on small things that we already know are humanly manageable, w/c goes back to your current series pastor, Prayer. That’s my take, or at least how I see what the quote’s trying to say.
First of all, I have to say I LOVE the idea of the “whatcha think?” What an awesome way to challenge US in this forum. This quote really convicted me! I was reminded that I am nothing…no good dwells within me, except through Christ and His Holy Spirit. I can try to be a ‘good person’ but His light will reveal all the darkness and sinful motives that reside within.
I felt a cut in my heart, because right now, I am trying to recover from a sad event. I am in the part of my recovery phase wherein I am confused and asking God why such thing happened. well I should admit the blame is on me because I was trying to manipulate things to work out for me, thinking that will make me happy.
It is true that whatever aspect in your life it is, whether your work, studies, family, friends and even in relationships you should be complete in Christ alone. We should not work for ourselves because at the end of the day, we will find ourselves wandering what happened, dissatisfied and regretting doing things on our own when we have an option–a have help from God.,
Last thing, I used to hear and love this passage that we, Christians, should not be afraid because we are always on the winning side. Well that’s it. I don’t know if I’m connecting =D anyway, thanks for that quote. God bless
