I totally agree! I feel like we are just starting and there is a freshness in the house. I am so thankful for times of refreshing.
I just wanted to share how God answered something we prayed about last week in our group. I asked for prayer for some kind of breakthrough in the way I'm always living in the flesh….just wanting to be more in the spirit. I wanted to have a deeper spirit-filled life. I really feel like God answered that prayer this week by showing me in a book I'm reading, this scripture, Deut. 7:26, "And the Lord your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, lest the wild beasts grow too numerous for you." Interestingly enough, this just goes right along with what Pastor Aaron has been teaching in the "To be continued" series….
(I got a message saying this was too long and I had to split it into two)…. My enemies that the Lord will clear away for me are my sinful, fleshly ways. But, He will do this little by little. Over time….and to be continued…..He will continue to do a work within me. But, not too quickly so that pride and arrogance (the wild beasts) don't rise up within me. I don't want to say things like, "Look at me and what He's done." I don't want to be prideful of the work He's done in me. He knows that and He doesn't want that for me either. So, little by little, He will clear these things away for me….in His perfect timing, not my flawed timing. Even if I have to 'suffer' a bit before one thing is cleared away, it will make me more grateful then if it was just wiped away quickly.
Just wanted to share…………..
Deb this is an amazing thought. This is called sanctification! God not only justified you he is sanctifying you. He needs to get all the glory!!! Deb I am so thankful to Jesus for all that He is doing in your life. Thanks for the testimony.
Deb-I keep learning from you! I love your insight and the fact that you are always ready to share what you have learned!!! I love having you in my life! Thanks for being so transparent!
I frightened to click on the video because the screen cap is so scary.
Jesus!!! I appreciate my God!! Group was soooo good tonight!! I feel, no I know my ladies walked out of it on a more solid foundation – Christ Himself!!! Oh what a foundation to stand on – no other compares or can hold up to it!! They were excited – attentive and are excited to chew on the Word this week…definitely a deeper love and appreciation for Christ…and He ain't a liar or lunatic…He IS LORD!!! And if those crazy demons know it – man we better recognize!! Thanks Bishop and Elders for making sure our foundation is solid!! Looking forward to next week – and hearing how my ladies have been studying and becoming really equipped!!!
What a great testimony! That makes it all worth it. He needs to be our foundation. This series is going to be a foundational moment for this church!!
Well, I can't really take credit for the insight, although I wish I could….most of this was explained in a book I'm reading. But, it was so relevant to what I had been praying about that I knew it was God's answer. And, it was right in line with what P.A.'s been preaching. I just always get so flippin' excited when I know He speaks to little ol' me!
I hung out with a friend I met at work. Amazing guy (Nick)… Love how the Lord puts men in my life that have gone through the same exact things I have gone through, and uses me to minister to them. Good group excited about Vintage, and want to study up more….
love it! 1 more guy we can pray for.
One thing that hit big time with me is the thought that it is impossible to embrace the teachings of Jesus without embracing him as God. You cannot just take the idea that he was a good man or teacher and ignore the idea that he said he is God. If a good man with spiritual thoughts declared he was God in today’s society, we would not just say he is a good teacher and dismiss his claim to being God… we would label him crazy and discredit all of his teachings as insanity. This is what people do when they claim Jesus to be a great teacher but merely a man. You can’t take one without the other.
Jesus is amazing and I'm so excited that we are taking the time to truly study out who He is, in every aspect. Tonight's group was awesome and the ladies asked some great thought provoking questions that really allowed us to explore scripture deeper and it was so cool to watch the Holy Spirit illuminate the Word and bring understanding. I feel like after really studying this first chapter of Vintage Jesus that I know so little about Him when you look at how much there is to try and grasp about Jesus and I'm excited to know more. God is at work in the lives of the people of Life Connection Church and I'm so grateful to get to be a part of it! Jesus is my everything and I'm more excited than ever to fall in love with Him in new and deeper ways.
That is cool. I am so excited about this study!!
It is so exciting to get back to the basics and refresh ourselves with why we believe what we believe. It is easy to forget that Jesus is all man and all God. Through our group study tonight we all agreed that remembering Jesus' divinity, gives Him more power to move freely in our lives. It also reaffirmed us in our faith. I love Jesus and what He is doing in our lives. Can't wait to go deeper into Jesus next week!
It was so good to dive in together and study out the foundation of Jesus, what we stand on as believers. We were a little angry as we read about what other religions/cults/people believe about Jesus but we also are glad that we know how off they are now. This gives us more awareness when talking to people that are specifically Mormon and Jehovah Witness. (we seem to run into them more than Scientologists) We have the scripture to back this up now! And also just to see how amazing Jesus is and BIG he is in this study just blows my mind! He was sinless, contrary to the popular belief that he wasn't and He IS the only one who can forgive sin because he is God! What really stuck out to us to is the fact that mostly all of His disciples were persecuted and killed for their belief in the fact that Jesus is God. What a great example of their unwavering faith. This series is going to revolutionize LCC and add knowledge to our zeal. So exciting!
Holy Stinking cow! Yes group was that good. Tonight at group I was so astonished by what God did that I couldn’t wait to get home & blog about it. We got ready to start in on our study at Wildflower then this lady walked up & sat at the table next to us. She asked us what we were doing. So, I told her about the Vintage Jesus study, & how we are a ladies group that meets on Thursday nights. I told her that she could join us if she wished. She declined & said she had allot of “business to take care of” as she sat down and turned on her lap top, so we went on with our study. Now let me stop & say that I was a little sketchy about doing this study not because I don’t believe that Jesus is the one true God because I do. But, when you tell someone that another religion is wrong & take a stand on it like “this religion doesn’t believe in Jesus” you might get a fight. All week I could just imagine getting something like ‘My Grandma is Jehovah’s Witness & she is a wonderful person, how do you know that’s what they believe” I dreaded it turning into an edgy conversation. read next comment
To my surprise as we got into the section about Mormons & what they believe of Jesus I watched the lady whip her head around & start listening to our conversation. Then she interrupted us & began to tell us about how she used to be Mormon & is now a Christian. She told us all of the things about Mormonism that goes against the word of God & about her researc. She totally dispelled every lie about the Mormon faith right there in wildflower, then through out the rest of the night she just kept speaking her mind about what we were learning, agreeing with us, & laughing when we did silly stuff. Then to top it all off, She finally just turned & joined in the conversation as one of the group, giving us her prayer request at the end of group & stayed till we were completely done. We got her number gave her a card, a copy of the Vintage Jesus notes & asked her to come to our group next week. It was so neat to be right there in public talking about the truth of Jesus and watch others around us LOVE what we are doing to the point that they can’t help but to join in. I am assured now this is what it is all about, impacting our community & being involved.
Last comment promise but
P.S. Her Prayer request was for her husband Peter, they found a mass in his kidney and say its a 75% chance that it is cancer. She asked that we pray for him, So LLC I’m also asking for you to partner with my group and say a prayer for Peter as they go through this season and for God to take care of this wonderful family!
Amber… Thank you so much for sharing this most amazing testimony. You do not even know how exciting that is to hear. This is what the church should be all about. Being where people are talking about Jesus and building relationship. We believe that peter will be healed and Jesus will get all the glory!!
we need to be standing on the only firm foundation at that is JESUS!! That is awesome.
My group on wednesday went ok. Only half the people showed up, but it was good because we were a lot more focused. Probably the biggest thing that came to us was the thought of how many different distorted views of Jesus there really are. It gave us revelation that even people say they believe there is a God, and the Believe in Jesus, they may not believe that Jesus is the only way into heaven, and that it can be earned by good works or deeds. People may claim that they believe in Jesus thinking that he was a good man, a prophet, an enlightened one, or even a state of mind, and not actually have a true revelation of what he did for them on that cross. This week set a good foundation of Jesus Christ and showed a need to be a net fisher, not a pole fisher as we judge who is saved already and who is not.
Amazing amazing! I loved going through Vintage Jesus with our group on Wednesday and also at Wired Youth tonight! I truly feel that us ladies by talking and going over (barely skimming the surface of him!) who Jesus is brought us closer on a more intimate level.
It was also so exciting and refreshing to truly dig into Jesus with the female youth at Life Connection! Jesus is revealing himself to LCC and it doesn't matter what age or where you're at spiritually. He's moving in such an incredible way and I pray that we would all be attentive and aware of his movement and voice!
Last night went really well at youth. Josh Dailey brought the point up that it is not logical to make the conclusion that Jesus was only a good man or a good teacher, because he taught that he has never sinned, and he taught that he was God. If some guy knocked on your door and starting giving you a sales pitch that he was God, and was like, Wait, let me prove it, and walked across your swimming pool, turned it into wine, and then made the water split down the center, and then told you thou shall not murder, thou shall not commit adultery…ect, you would still consider him to be crazy because he claimed to be God. That statement of Claiming to be God would discredit everything he said or did. So is it right to say that Jesus was good teacher, but not God, when everything he taught lined up with him being God?
Last night went really well at youth. Josh Dailey brought the point up that it is not logical to make the conclusion that Jesus was only a good man or a good teacher. It is hard to say that you liked Jesus' teachings, and he was a good teacher and a good man, but not profess that he is God, because he taught that he was God, so it is impossible to agree that he was only a good teacher, and say he isn't God at the same time. If anybody today tried to claim to be God, even though they had good things to say and could walk across your swimming pool, you would still probably discredit everything they say because he claimed to be God.
