Ok you all, I thought I would take a break from answering questions today and talk about something that I am excited to be learning about and that is twitter. Over the last few weeks @lifeconnection (as we say in twitter land) has grown leaps and bounds in the social network platform-twitter. I just wanted to list a couple things that I have learned from twitter.
It is important to learn the “Language”.
If I am going to be a good friend or missionary on twitter I have to take some time to learn the “language”, if you will. For the first few days I felt like I was just figuring out how to use it and communicate with it. I think there is one important thing as we are trying to utilize twitter as an outlet for relationships in the church and building relationships outside of the church, take time to study and know how twitter works. Do not be afraid to learn new things and start from knowing nothing.
It is important to find friends
Do not just get stuck in following people you know. Find people who have similar interests, or live in #PHX, or are saying things that are important to you and start following them. They will not feel like you are stalking them!!! Then message them directly, ask them questions, answer theirs, respond, build up a rapport. Pursue friendship!
Get the word out
Use your blog, facebook, myspace, mail pieces (lol), word of mouth, to get everyone to know you are on twitter. Do not be afraid to promote yourself.
Stay focused
It is easy to get distracted off what we are trying to do, and that is to point people to Jesus. We can get so wrapped up in talking and chatting that we miss out on pointing to Jesus and testifying of what He has done. Do not get so wrapped up in the network that you are not focused on Jesus. Also do not let it become your idol that you are only thinking about tweeting. So focus on why we are tweeting and who should get the glory. Pray for people, build relationships, love people, let people into your life, and stay focused on Jesus.

okay, this has convinced me to not give up just yet on twitter – but I gotta say, this site is most unusual & I feel like I'm not doing it right LOL
It is a little different to get the hang of. But once you get the hang of it… it is a great tool of communication. Hang in there!
