Awesome sermon. Still chewing on "orthodoxy and orthopraxy"! Our Monday night group was so tender as we appropriated the cross, the amazing love, the mercy, the grace and the great exchange! "Jesus has forever settled the question of his love on the cross. If he never does another thing for me, the cross is enough". We talked about that for awhile. We talked about the intense intent Jesus had to fulfill the Father's mission. Greater love hath no man… And the words "once for all" kept popping up… I can't describe how great our night was, but Leslie is working on writing something that will give insight. My girl, Zonda, sang "At the Cross" (the old VMG song, not the hymn) for us… so beautiful.

I love it when I read something and it aligns with watch u are teaching us, Pastor. It just makes me feel so…sure. I cant think of how else to put it. I was reading Isaiah 28 and Gods talking through Isaiah about destroying Ephraim but he tells the pocket of people still doing his will and loving him that he will be a glorious crown, a beautiful wreath, for the remnant of his people. Its like even when we feel like we are small and insignificant he'll never see us like that. I am so happy that he is a God who counts the small with the large and doesn't grade on the amount of deeds but the worth of them. I am praying for obedience as well as endurance through this season. I need to be so close that I cant see anything else, no other way but his.

Group was so good. This was definitely a heavy week of study and as we came together one saw a vision of God just having to turn away while seeing his son unrecognizable and bloody on the cross and to add to that I just imagine God screaming in anger as his wrath is satisfied and Jesus becomes the propitiation for our sins. How can we EVER doubt that God loves us? With the image of the cross in mind…..How can we EVER doubt God's love for us? We were humbled and unable to express in words what Jesus did in order for us to be able to choose to be God's image bearers again in view of His love and mercy.

Group last night was so good. In talking about what Jesus accomplished on the cross, Deb shared a vision of God having to look away from an His unrecognizable bleeding son,Jesus and I could just hear him screaming in anger as his wrath was poured out on Jesus, the propitiation for our sins. We were humbled and realized it is our choice now but all has been made possible through the expiation of our sins to once again become the image bearers of God through his love and mercy.

What could be powerful than having a deep revelation of what Christ accomplished on the cross! Our group really poured over each part of the teaching and we all got so much out of it. I love the group dynamic becuase as each person shares their thoughts about a scripture or word that God has spoken to them it illuminates something new for all of us. We spent a good chunk of time on Christ being our propitiation & expiation and what an incredibly complete work He did on the cross, He left nothing unfinished and we have such lasting hope in Him becuase of His love for us…..a love that in our frail human minds is almost unfathomable but when you even get a small glimpse of it, it revolutionizes every part of who we are.

Group was off the hizoook this week! Ya'll know what i'm talking about!

Every day God is revealing Himself to me more and more and its mindblowing.
When I read the notes about what Jesus accomplished on the cross and then watched to podcast of Mark Driscoll I was blown away. just to think of what He do for me! Wow….it made me sit back and think…..I've been a jerk. I have been so mad at God lately….my mindset was "if God is suck a carring and loving God why would He take my baby away AGAIN?" Its been a rough road….but I know that He loves me and will never stop loving me. Jesus went through a painful, excruciating pain….so that I may have forgivness of sins and so that I may live?! wow what kind of friend do i have in Him!!!! Thank you Jesus for everything you have done for me! Forgive me Lord for not seeing things through your eyes. I will strive every day to live for you and you alone.

Alyssa and I just had group together. Our ladies have had a rough week and were not able to make it. This chapter was incredible, and has shed so much light on Jesus' fulfillment of "The day of atonement." He's our High Priest and He's the Lamb of GOD. Jesus who was pure and holy without sin, became sin and died to save us from God's wrath, WOW. I like how the book states not to have pity on Jesus as a weak victim. "Not only was Jesus fully man, he also went to the cross and took his beating like a man. With the cross impending, Jesus said."For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take i t up again."" Jesus is our Hero! Jesus is my Hero!

  12. Mark Rohl says

It is amazing that no matter how many times we read or hear about the cross, it still has a profound impact on our lives. If it doesn't we need to run straight back to it and get near to Him. Amazing.
