| This Sunday (3/29/09) you mentioned that as Christians that we have some core beliefs that we should die for. You mentioned the first two which are Jesus is all God and all man at the same time. What are the other core beliefs that we should die for? I am curious, because when I am with others who do not believe as I do, I would like to know whether a conversation point is worth debating or if it is better to just let it go. |
My Answer:
I will list 7 points for you in this blog. As elder’s we are putting together a packet with more detail on these and more. This will be a good start. Thanks for the question!
1. There is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5-6; John 17:3; 1 Timothy 2:15)
2. God exists as three persons (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) yet He is one God. (Gen 1:26; Matthew 3:13-17; 1Corinthains 12:4-6)
3. All humanity by nature and choice are sinners (Romans 3:23; 5:8; 7:18; Ephesians 2:1-3)
4. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, was born of a virgin and is both fully God and fully man. (Matthew 1:20;Luke 2:52;John 1:1-4;Hebrews 1:1-3)
5. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, died as a subtitute for the penalty of sin, and physically rose from the dead. (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 Corinthians 15:12-34)
6. That only by faith in Jesus Christ alone can man be reconciled to God (John 3:18; Romains 3:21-26; 1 Timothy 2:5-6)
7. The Bible is the true, authoritative, sufficient word of God (Psalm 19:7-11; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
