How would you present the gospel on Twitter?

jesusiphone2jpgOk, so i read this article on christianitytoday.com where they were interviewing Rob Bell, pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Michigan.  The interview frustrated me and irritated me as does most of Rob Bell’s stuff.  As much as I would like to rant about Rob Bell’s teachings, I will restrain myself because no one cares and it will not make a difference.  So I will focus this blog on a question in the interview that I liked.

How would you present this gospel on Twitter?

Rob Bell: I would say that history is headed somewhere. The thousands of little ways in which you are tempted to believe that hope might actually be a legitimate response to the insanity of the world actually can be trusted. And the Christian story is that a tomb is empty, and a movement has actually begun that has been present in a sense all along in creation. And all those times when your cynicism was at odds with an impulse within you that said that this little thing might be about something bigger—those tiny little slivers may in fact be connected to something really, really big. Not quite down to 140 characters. Well, you can’t really tweet the gospel. I’m convinced that I am not doing anything new. I am hoping that I’m in a long tradition.

There is sooooooooooooooooooo much that is wrong with this answer to what the Gospel is.  Maybe he was confused by the way he worded the question,  ”this Gospel” not “THE GOSPEL”, so maybe this is a different gospel but that is not why I am writing this post.  So I will stop hating.

What I am wanting to do is see if any of you can answer this question. I thought it was a great question.

On sunday someone texted a question in “What is the Gospel.” So I decided to put a little challenge out to my readers and lifeconnectionchurch.net;  can you in 140 characters present the Gospel?  How would you present the gospel on Twitter? (notice I changed this to “the”)

NOTE:  Do not just post your answer on twitter.  Post it here and then post it on twitter and invite your followers to come to my site and take a crack at answering.  When you put it on twitter start it with #gospel.

This is the best I could do, used up all 140 character but I need a few more to talk about glorification. I give up:

"3in1 God creates man in his image,we sin & bring wrath,God sends son who lived a sinless life 2 die & pay $,he rose, gave us the holy spirit"

  4. Kyle Campos says

Here's what Tarek had at group:

"you were dead in sin and Jesus saved you by his sacrifice asking that you love God and other with everything"

  5. Rick Carrera says

quick attempt, still seems feeble and very limited, but all in 140 characters….

"Sin separates us from Jesus, Holy God, true love full of mercy & grace who chose to save us while still enemies and died to pay our price"

  6. Kyle Campos says

    This is Gary's:

"Jesus came all God and all man to save us from our sinful lives when we were seeking sin he saught to regenerate us to righteousness"

this is such a frustrating venture… I need more words… but this is my first attempt:

all R sinners by nature & choice deserving of death & hell. BUT GOD in His mercy sent His Son to pay our debt, break our chains & give life.

i don't have enough room for the hashtag (#gospel) Dangit!!

The Gospel in my words is "Our sins erased by God's love. Jesus is the demonstration of that love which brings us into a relationship with Him. Plus, the Holy Spirit keeps us in relationship with Him."

  11. pastoraarond says

    Ok this is my attempt…

God, Creation, Sin&separation, Jesus' Incarnation, the cross is just&justification, resurrection, adoption, sanctification, glorification

I wanted to put look it up at the end but I ran out of space

hey thats kind of cheating isnt it PA, i was under the impression that it had to be understandable to someone who had never heard the gospel, but i couldnt do any better with 140 characters than you did, i guess you just need 152 characters for ', look it up', maybe we should petition twitter
