This is a question sent in by anonymous on the “Ask Aaron Anything” link:
If a person comes to your church and has been in a congregation before and has been discipled, does she need to be redisipled through your church? Once a disciple, always a disciple?
My Answer:
If a person comes to Life Connection from another congregation and they have been discipled sometimes they are the hardest ones to deal with because they have been used in another congregation they want to jump right into leadership. All churches are different not only in doctrine but organizationally, relationally, practically, and stylistically. So when they come they must plugin relationally because discipleship is mostly relationship that is something you could have had at another church but can not transfer. You are going to have to build new relationships. Then we also make them go through the classes so they know our style, organization, vision, ect. So if someone comes from another local body they are going to have to come in humble and willing to learn and relearn. We do weed out a bunch of transfer growth of people who have pride and think they should just be able to lead in a couple months. So expect when you come to LCC that no matter what you have experienced before that you are going to go through the same process of building relationships and taking the necessary steps to be used in leadership. Now if you just want to come and sit and watch then we welcome you but if you want to be discipling and be used then you got to go through the process.
